Portland Oregon mayor Sam Adams (how ironic) wants your comments on his plan to violate Oregon State's preemption law and the Second Amendment:

Impose a special curfew for juveniles who have been found by a court of law to have violated gun laws.
Create new city crime of failure to control access to a firearm by a child
Create new city crime of failure to report theft or loss of a firearm
Increase penalties for possession of a loaded firearm in a public place
Exclude people who have been found by a court of law to have violated firearms use or possession laws from areas of the City in which illegal use of firearms is markedly greater than other areas. Exclusions to be enforced through arrest for trespass, but with many variances available for necessary and non-harmful activities.

He wants your feedback by Friday September 3rd. You can review the draft code provisions here and email him at mayorsam@portlandoregon.gov. Backed by Cease Fire Oregon, The Brady Campaign and Mayors against guns.

Supreme Court Upholds Second Amendment Rights

NRA _ ILA Alert for Central Oregon Counties

Attention Oregon NRA Members in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties: Plan to Attend Hearing in Bend Next Week to Oppose Gun Tax Increase

The Oregon State Police (OSP) is currently reviewing possible fee increases for services provided by the agency, including conducting background checks on firearms purchasers. State law currently mandates that the buyer must pay the $10 fee for this service, and OSP maintains records on individuals cleared for purchases. NRA-ILA strongly opposes OSP's proposal to nearly TRIPLE that fee to $28, as well as the agency's plan to continue registering legal firearms purchasers.

Please attend the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 2, from 1:00pm-3:00pm in the North Fire Station, located at 63377 Jamison Road in Bend, and voice your objections to increasing the tax or on, or continuing to register, lawful gun buyers. (Because this is a widespread review of all OSP services, fingerprint processing fees for Concealed Handgun License applicants are also being examined for a similar hike.)

New Social Media Sites

Greetings. Chris and I met today and started the club's new information sites. During the next few months we'll be integrating the website renovation, blogsite, and social media sites (Facebook and Twitter).

Here is how we see these sites providing information initially:

WEBSITE: Chris is redesigning the program to a tab-style format. It will provide less scrolling and make specific information directly available.

BLOG: We'll post images of events and videos and an occasional special topic article.

FACEBOOK: This is strictly voluntary. If you want to join as a follower, look for 'Redmond Randgc' and sign up from your Facebook account.

Why the odd name? The first and last names have to be a regular 'name' of a person. So you have a new friend, if you want one: Redmond Randgc.

TWITTER: As with Facebook, this is voluntary from your Twitter account. Simply search for 'rrandgc' , simply sign up from your Twitter account.

We will use Twitter and Facebook sparingly, for short notice posts, such as range closures, and epic events. Not to worry, you will not recieve 'tweets' or facebook 'updates' about someone's new shoe laces. Wall postings will be limited to members only.

Let us know via email any concerns. Please be patient. Kindness is cool. Remember, we are honing our Media Situational Awareness as we go, between After Action Reviews. We hope you enjoy the new formats as they develop.
